Hi I'm Katie!

Helping you feel safe, calm, and confident — no matter what your past birth experience was

I’m Katie, a midwife, perinatal mental health specialist, and birth confidence coach.

I support people navigating pregnancy after trauma to rebuild trust in their body, their care team, and themselves after a difficult or traumatic pregnancy, birth, or postnatal experience.

HOW IT ALL STARTED...

After the birth of my second child, I felt a deep pull to change direction and dedicate my career to helping others have better, more supported birth experiences. I began by training as an antenatal teacher, which quickly led me to study midwifery — and I’ve never looked back.

While working as a community midwife, I saw first-hand the incredible impact that emotional preparation, mindset, and compassionate care can have on birth experiences. That’s what inspired me to train as a hypnobirthing instructor and create my own business, Birthcare — initially as a space for positive birth education and birth confidence courses.

Over time, my work — and my heart — began to focus more deeply on supporting those for whom pregnancy isn’t always joyful or straightforward. People who were carrying anxiety, fear, or trauma from previous experiences. That’s what led me to specialise as an NHS perinatal mental health midwife, first working within a hospital and now for a Maternal Mental Health Service supporting people who have experienced perinatal trauma, loss, and, or have a fear of birth (tokophobia).

I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside many people as they rebuild safety, trust, and confidence after incredibly difficult experiences.

Now, through Birthcare, I bring together everything I’ve learned — from clinical midwifery practice, trauma-informed care, a variety of therapeutic approaches, and hypnobirthing — into a supportive, compassionate space for people preparing for birth after trauma.
