Evening by evening

What you'll learn

Four two-hour evenings that build on each other, taking you from understanding your body to feeling ready for the day itself. This is a hands-on, visual course, with models, illustrated resources and real practice, not just slides.

Week 1

Understand Your Body, Feel Ready for Birth

Once you know what your body is doing and why, birth stops being the great unknown.

  • How labour works: your uterus, your cervix, and the hormones driving it all

  • Why your body is built for this

  • The fear–tension–pain cycle, and how to break it

  • Getting your mindset and your language working for you, not against you

  • Your first guided relaxation to take home and practise

Week 2

The Practical Tools for a Calm, Confident Birth

Hands-on relaxation, breathing and comfort tools you'll practise with your birth partner, and actually reach for on the day.

  • Deep relaxation and birth visualisation

  • Breathing techniques for every stage of labour

  • Building your anchor together with your birth partner

  • Massage, comfort measures and positions that help labour along

  • Perineal massage, how and when to start

  • Relaxation and breathing audios to take home

Week 3

Know How Birth Unfolds, Stay in Control

As a midwife, I'll take you through exactly how birth unfolds, and how to feel in control of every choice along the way.

  • Who's who in your maternity team, and how the system really works

  • Informed consent, the BRAIN decision-making tool, and understanding risk

  • A step-by-step walkthrough of labour and birth, from the first surges to your baby in your arms

  • What monitoring means, and the options you have

  • Every pain relief option, honestly, with no gold medal for going without

Week 4

Ready for Whatever Birth Brings

From your birth preferences to going overdue, the unexpected, and your first days at home, the parts most courses skip.

  • Your birth partner's role, and how to advocate for you

  • Writing birth preferences that actually get read and respected

  • When things take a different path: induction, sweeps, assisted birth and caesarean

  • Going past your dates without losing your calm

  • The first days after birth: bleeding, feeding and boundaries

  • Final preparation, your hospital bag, and walking in ready
